Bonnie Irwin, Psya.D.
I am a certified psychoanalyst in private practice in Bradford, Vermont. I work with individuals and couples. I also have extensive experience with children.
My training began at the Vermont School of Psychoanalysis. When that school closed, I transferred to the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis. The loss of the Vermont community convinced me that it is important to create and maintain a professional community to nourish ourselves as we aim to provide the best experience for our
patients.
I was teaching full time when I began my analytic training. I found that the training informed my teaching and enriched my personal life. As a teacher, I had the opportunity to train with the Critical Skills Program at Antioch New England. Later, I was invited to become a trainer in that program. I worked with teachers in the US,
Scotland, England, and Wales. Inevitably, I learned as much from my students as I hoped to help them learn in my classroom.

Policies and Procedures in Hiring of Faculty
We encourage students and faculty to suggest potential teachers to our Board. The administration also recruits faculty based on reputation as teachers and/or researchers. The Board evaluates teaching candidates based on credentials, including required NAAP registration and current license to practice. New faculty will teach a course and based on student feedback the board will decide whether to add that person to the permanent faculty. The Training Committee will review student evaluations of faculty at each biannual meeting. If there should be a problem, the Board will be informed and will take the issue up at the next meeting. Steps to be taken with the faculty member are exploration of the issue, support and counseling if needed to improve the person’s performance.
The board meets at least twice a year, informal consultations can happen anytime.
